Nordic’s turnaround time for microbial contaminant testing is 3-4 business days. Samples brought in prior to 2:00 pm will be processed in three business days, whereas samples brought in after 2:00 pm will be processed in four business days.

In the process of cannabis cultivation, the potential for contamination is always a concern. Salmonella, STEC (Shiga-toxin-producing E. Coli) and Aspergillus molds pose serious health risks to consumers (particularly those with weakened immune systems), resulting in a wide range of health issues. To protect Colorado cannabis consumers from microbial contamination, current MED regulations require microbial testing for all medical and retail flower. Also, non-solvent based concentrates, vaporizer delivery devices, remediated concentrates and infused products require testing. The only exception to this rule is in cases in which process validation has been achieved under MED regulations.

*Aspergillus testing includes the detection of four species: A. niger, A. flavus, A. fumigatus and A. terreus. Nordic’s state certification and ISO Accreditation are currently being reviewed by our regulators.

What is the Required Sample Size?

Please note that Nordic Analytical Laboratories adheres to all Colorado MED regulations concerning the required sample sizes for microbial testing. For a concentrate production batch requiring microbial testing in addition to any other test type, a minimum sample size of 3.0 grams is required. What are the Expected Turnaround Times?

Nordic Analytical Laboratories provides our laboratory clients with rapid turnaround time, returning microbial testing lab results in 3 to 5 business days. If a sample arrives at our facility before 2:00 pm, it will be processed in 3-4 business days. Samples arriving at our Denver or Pueblo cannabis testing laboratories after 2:00 pm will require 4-5 business days for processing.
